How to Lock Screen on iPad While Watching Video
Watching videos on your iPad is a delightful experience, but sometimes you might want to lock the screen to prevent accidental taps or touches. Whether you’re watching a movie in a quiet room or need to step away from your device for a moment, locking the screen can be quite helpful. In this article, we will guide you through the process of how to lock screen on iPad while watching video.
Step 1: Open the Video App
First, make sure you are in the video app where you are currently watching the video. This could be the native iPad Videos app or any third-party app like Netflix, YouTube, or Amazon Prime Video.
Step 2: Access the Control Center
Next, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the Control Center. This feature is available on all iPads running iOS 11 or later.
Step 3: Tap the Lock Screen Button
In the Control Center, you will find a lock screen button. It is represented by a padlock icon. Tap on this button to lock your iPad’s screen. Once tapped, the screen will go black, and the video will pause automatically.
Step 4: Unlock the Screen When Needed
When you’re ready to resume watching the video, simply press the Home button (on older iPads) or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the Control Center again. Tap the lock screen button again to unlock your iPad’s screen.
Alternative Method: Use the Home Button
If you have an older iPad with a Home button, you can also lock the screen by pressing the Home button. This will trigger the screen lock, and the video will pause. To unlock the screen, press the Home button again.
Using Screen Time to Prevent Accidental Taps
If you want to prevent accidental taps and touches while watching videos, you can enable the “Reduce Motion” feature in Screen Time settings. This feature reduces the amount of motion on the screen, making it less likely for accidental interactions.
1. Go to Settings > Screen Time.
2. Tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
3. Turn on the “Reduce Motion” option.
By following these simple steps, you can easily lock the screen on your iPad while watching video. This feature is particularly useful when you need to step away from your device or when you want to ensure that your video experience remains uninterrupted.
