How to Delete File from Office 365 Online

Managing files in Office 365 Online can be a breeze, but sometimes you might need to delete a file that you no longer need. Whether it’s a document, a spreadsheet, or a presentation, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to delete a file from Office 365 Online.

1. Sign in to your Office 365 account:

– Go to the Office 365 website (https://www.office.com) and log in with your credentials.

2. Navigate to the desired location:

– Once logged in, you’ll see a list of your files and folders on the left-hand side. Click on the folder where the file you want to delete is located.

3. Select the file:

– Find the file you want to delete and click on it to select it. If you want to delete multiple files, hold down the Ctrl key (or Command key on a Mac) and click on each file you want to delete.

4. Delete the file:

– With the file(s) selected, click on the “Delete” button, which is usually represented by a trash can icon. You can also right-click on the file and choose “Delete” from the context menu.

5. Confirm the deletion:

– A confirmation dialog will appear, asking if you’re sure you want to delete the file(s). Click “Yes” to confirm the deletion.

6. Check the deleted file:

– The file(s) should now be moved to the “Deleted files” folder in your Office 365 account. To access it, click on the “Deleted files” folder on the left-hand side.

7. Permanently delete the file:

– If you want to permanently delete the file(s) and free up space in your account, go to the “Deleted files” folder and click on the “Empty deleted files” button. This will remove the file(s) from your account and cannot be undone.

Remember, once a file is deleted from the “Deleted files” folder, it cannot be restored. So make sure you have a backup or are certain that you want to delete the file before proceeding.

By following these simple steps, you can easily delete files from your Office 365 Online account and keep your files organized and clutter-free.
