To program your DirecTV remote to work with a new TV, follow these steps:
1. Turn on your TV: Make sure your new TV is powered on before you begin programming.
2. Enter Setup Mode on the Remote:
– Press and hold the “Select” and “Mute” buttons on the DirecTV remote simultaneously.
– Hold both buttons until the red light at the top of the remote turns on, then release the buttons. The red light should stay on.
3. Program the Remote:
– Press and release the “TV” button at the top of the remote. The red light will blink once and then stay on.
– Enter the 5-digit code for your TV brand. You can find this code in the DirecTV remote manual or on the DirecTV website. If you don’t have the code, you can use the automatic code search feature (explained in step 4).
– After entering the code, the red light will blink and turn off.
4. Automatic Code Search (if you don’t have the code):
– Press and hold the “TV” button until the red light stays on, then release the “TV” button.
– Press and release the “On/Off” button. The red light will blink and then stay on.
– Press and release the “Up Arrow” button repeatedly (every 2 seconds). The remote will begin searching through all available codes for your TV brand.
– When your TV turns off, press “Enter” to store the code. The red light will turn off.
5. Test the Remote:
– Press the “Power” button to turn your TV back on. Test other buttons (like volume and mute) to make sure they work.
If the remote doesn’t work after following these steps, repeat the process with a different code or use the automatic search again.
